It’s 7:45am , you forgot to set your alarm this morning and now you’re late.

It’s a rush to shower, brush your teeth, style your hair and then, makeup. Ugh. Now that’s going to make you another 20+ minutes late, so you decide to skip it.

You arrive at work late, and barefaced. Wishing that you could just wake up beautifully ready to go. No 20 minute makeup time.

This sad late girl used to be me.

I happen to be part of a very lucky community who happens to have no eyebrows.

Well not none. Technically they are there. The hairs on my eyebrows are just so light that it looks like nothing is there. I can shave them, shape them, cut them off completely, you wouldn’t know the difference. So every morning. Every time I left the house, or wanted to have a video call, I needed to fill in my eyebrows. After 10+ years, it was really starting to get old.

Finally I stumbled upon a “semi”-permanent solution.

Now I can wake up and I’m ready to go! No more wasting time filling in my eyebrows!

If you want to wake up beautifully ready go like me; then I’m going to let you in on my life changing secret…

What is Permanent Makeup?

Permanent Makeup can also be known as micropigmentation or cosmetic tattoos.

Using a pen resembling a tattoo needle or a handheld device with many tiny needles, natural pigments containing iron oxide are inserted into the dermal layer of the skin. The dermal layer of the skin is basically the middle layer of the skin. It is also the thickest layer of the skin

This technique is done by using very fine needles making hundreds of tiny insertions in the skin.

This creates natural looking results.

Creating semi-permanent freshly bitten red lips, Marilyn Monroe beauty marks, sharply winged eyes, or playful freckles.

Permanent makeup can also be used to cover up stretch marks, beauty marks, age spots and discolored skin. Those with old age who have unsteady hands and poor eyesight. Also those suffering with vitiligo and alopecia.

Permanent makeup offers people a stress free, wake up and go, makeup routine. Although before you get too excited about waking up fully makeup-ed, make sure you do your research to find the best licensed technician.

licensed technician

A licensed technician will perform the procedure. Chose your technician wisely. Do your research. Choose a technician that you can clearly see their work and their clients. If anything about them throws you off, find another one. A technician that will make you feel comfortable and get you your desired look is what you want!

Here in Canada, you do not need to be licensed to perform Permanent Makeup. there is no governing body to regulate permanent makeup. So make sure you do your research to find a reputable technician in your area.

A consultation is required to make sure you meet the requirements for permanent makeup. You and your technician will then plan out the desired look, and make sure is absolutely to your liking before proceeding.

For certain procedures, anesthesia is applied to numb the area for less pain. Pain levels vary based on your pain tolerance. To some it may feel like a mild irritant, to others, fiery hell. Depending on the procedure, it can take anywhere from 30 to 180 minutes to complete.

Immediately after the procedure, the tattoo will appear bolder and more saturated, but will eventually fade 20-30% during the healing process. The healing process times vary on the areas, but can take anywhere from 0-60 days to fully heal.

Touch ups are recommended for most procedures.

Once fully healed, you will have beautiful smudge-proof, sweat-proof, waterproof, semi-permanent makeup. Again, don’t go getting too excited because the keyword in there is “semi”.

Lasts 2-3 Years

Unlike traditional tattoos, permanent makeup only implants pigment into the top superficial layers of the skin. Meaning they do not go as deep into the skin.

Making it “less” permanent. Permanent makeup can last anywhere between 2-3 years. Over time, like all tattoos, they fade over the years.

Lifestyle, age and aftercare are important things to take into consideration when getting a semi-permanent procedure. Aftercare is also a crucial part in the longevity of your permanent makeup.

After all, you want your semi-permanent makeup to stay semi-permanent right?

permanent makeup aftercare

aftercare

After a permanent makeup procedure, you want to avoid facials, saunas, Jacuzzis, excessive sweating and too much sun exposure.
Also, bear in mind what you put on your face afterwards, because certain products can accelerate the fading of permanent makeup. To keep your permanent makeup looking brand new, always wear sunscreen after fully healed.

& voila! Always makeup done and ready to go!

no more wasted time applying makeup

Imagine waking up and your eyebrows are already filled in?

Your eyes already sharply lined?

your lips looking rouge and kissable?

All that is possible with permanent makeup!

Having these little beauty fixes already done means no more time applying makeup! You can snooze in for 20 more minutes, thanks to not having to do your makeup.

save money – no need for makeup procedures and treatments

According to Money Magazine;

“Women spend on average of $15,000 on beauty products during her lifetime”

$15,000 no more! You can now ditch those expensive eyebrow gels, powders, and creams. No more rows and rows or lipsticks and lip stains.

$100 for an eyebrow wax and lamination? No way!

The money saved by not having to spend on products and services could be spent on so much better things! Or even saved for a rainy day. Imagine the savings!

Upfront, permanent makeup can seem expensive, ranging anywhere from $200 to $1,500. But that price tag is for a couple of years remember? Add up the expenses of makeup products and services for a couple years and you’ll be shocked at the amount! In the long run, the savings are well worth it!

I personally have had my eyebrows Microbladed, & then I (having gone through a permanent makeup course) have done Ombre Powder Brows on myself! I know, crazy right?

Getting permanent makeup done on my eyebrows was honestly life-changing. Hands down one of the best life decisions i’ve made. That along with getting locs.

My self confidence went through the roof!

Don’t just run out and get what I have gotten. (Even though I totally recommend). Make sure you do your research to see what services may be right for you and your lifestyle.
