Elf on the Shelf is a fun Christmas Tradition that is based on a children’s picture book. This funny Christmas tradition started back in 2005 when the Christmas book, “The Elf on the Shelf. A Christmas tradition.” was originally published.

The elves have been sent from Santa’s workshop to keep and eye on the the little boys and girls and report back to Santa. He was to report to Santa’s who was being naughty, and who was being nice.

The magic of this little elf, is that the children cannot touch the elf, or else he will lose his magic. (If this happens, sprinkle some cinnamon near the elf, and he will return tomorrow healthy and well.) Also, the elf does not speak nor move when the children are awake.

The Elf on the Shelf can arrive any time after November 24 and he leaves around Dec 21 to report back to Santa. (FYI: these dates are not set in stone. You can have your elf arrive and depart on whatever date works for you.)
